I have tried SO many hair products searching for ones that make my hair soft, silky, and shiny! Not to mention, keeping my ends healthy, while trying to achieve more hair growth and fullness. My hair is naturally very fine, frizz-prone, and damaged (mostly on the ends) from bleaching it blonde in some places. But I have found this routine to hit all of my goals! It is budget friendly and all products can be ordered on Amazon!

  1. Pre Shower Treatment

    • Scalp oil: I start by oiling my hair 24 hours in advance. This isn’t always possible because it definitely makes your hair look greasy and wet all day, but I at least try to do it overnight! I start with 3 pumps of Hair Growth Oil Serum on my fingers and massaging it into my scalp. I sometimes add coconut oil too. But definitely massage the oil into the scalp for a few minutes! This is great for hair growth and also just great self care!

    • Hair oil: Then, I completely cover my hair in Jojoba Oil. PS, if you have some left on your hands after, rub it into your skin! It’s great for hair, skin, and nails. Like I said, I try to do this 24 hours in advance, or overnight. At the very least, I do this and the scalp serum 1 hour before my shampoo.

    • Ends treatment: Then 10-15 minutes before my shampoo, I damp my ends up to the mid-length of my hair with water, and apply Olaplex 3. This product is a MUST. It’s one of the more expensive products that I am listing, but probably my favorite! My hair stylist recommended it to me to reduce my split ends and WOW it really works! Even as soon as I step into the shower my hair feels to smooth and silky from using this product.

  2. Shower Products

    • For starters, I would get one of these scalp massagers! It honestly feels so good on my scalp and Iove giving myself the added self care to massage in whatever product I am using.

    • Shampoo: I have tried a few hair growth shampoos and Nioxin 5 is BY FAR my favorite! I actually noticed a difference in my hair fullness after just a couples months of shampooing! Nioxin is famous for scalp care and hair growth. Be sure to research which number best suites your needs though! Each number represents a different formula that best suites your needs (color safe, light thinning, progressed thinning, etc). I have tried their whole set (shampoo, conditioner, post-shower scalp spray) before too, which is also great to incorporate if hair growth/fullness is your main goal!

    • Conditioner: I am obsessed with conditioner in general, but I have been loving It’s a 10: Miracle Silk Conditioner recently! It smells great, and leaves my hair feeling soft even if I don’t do the mask afterward. PS, you could totally switch the order of applying conditioner and the mask. I have found this is just what works best for me!

    • Mask: My all time favorite in-shower hair mask is the Bondi Boost: Miracle Hair Mask. It smells so delicious and when I use it, I don’t even need conditioner! However, I do leave this one on longer than the one below. I leave this one in for about 15-20 minutes. Because it’s a little more expensive, I use this one every once in a while. But when I do, my hair is sooo soft afterward!

    • Mask (cheaper option): I found Arvazallia Hydrating Argan Oil Hair Mask on Amazon and I love it! I don’t use this every time I shampoo, but you definitely could! It’s a great price and it smells amazing. I massage in a generous amount almost all the way up to my roots. Then I clip it up for about 10 minutes and rinse it out.

  3. Post Shower Products

    • Ends treatment (5% dry): As soon as my hair has been briefly towel dried, I put Redkin: Acidic Bonding Concentrate on my ends to mid-lengths. You can get a sample size here if you want to try it first! But this is another TO DIE FOR amazing smelling product! This products makes my ends nice and smooth as my hair dries whether I decide to blow dry or not.

    • All over shine, protect, and strengthen spray (5% dry): I started using the Matrix: Miracle Creator a couple years ago and my mind was blown the first time I used it! It has over 20 benefits, including smoothing, moisturizing, and shine! I was most impressed with the shine it gave my hair, so if that’s what you’re looking for, you need this!

    • Smoothing cream (50%-60% dry): Once my hair is about half dry, I run Olaplex 6 through the length of my hair. This product is one that made a noticeably large impact the first time I used it. Especially if you blow dry! It makes my hair SO smooth and SO soft. 10/10!

    • [Optional] Additional smoothing cream (50%-60% dry): If your hair is prone to frizz like mine, I would put a small amount of SheaMoisture Strength and Restore Styling Lotion. When I say small amount, I mean SMALL. Like no bigger than a dime. And don’t go any higher than just above the ends of the hair. When I first got this product, I filled up half of my palm with it and then once my hair dried it looked so greasy I had to immediately shower again…. fail. But if you use a small dime amount, it adds the perfect extra layer of smoothness to the ends! Also a great price point!

  4. Blow Dry Products

    • Once my hair is about 80% dry, I use the Revlon Blow Dry Brush to dry and smooth my hair. If I really need volume I will put a few rollers in along the top while I blow dry the rest! Or if I am about to go to bed, I will put in a heatless satin roller before I go to sleep to wake up with curls!

    • Heat protectant: I have been loving It’s a 10: Miracle Blow Dry Styling Balm! I prefer a cream vs. a spray. I’m so picky about heat protectant because I think whatever you use is what smell will last on your hair the strongest, and let me tell you THIS is the one! Plus, a good price!

  5. Styling products

    • Once my hair is completely dry, I will sometimes flat iron or curl my hair, or just leave it as-is! Check out my post The 3 hot tools I CAN’T live without, to see exactly what I use! Just note to use these AFTER you are done putting heat on your hair. My favorite oil BY FAR is the Sebastian Dark Oil. It soaks into my hair super well, and my hair doesn’t usually absorb products very well when it’s dry! It’s a pricey one, but as soon as you smell it, it’s like you just walked out of the salon! Totally worth the price!

    • Ends treatment: Yep, again! Gotta protect, protect, protect those ends! LOL, but yes, the Redkin: Extreme Anti-Snap is one that I firmly stand by and absolutely love! Even a couple days after shampooing (I wash my hair twice a week) and my ends are looking straggly, I use a few pumps of this and it smooths them right out. Just like magic! Also worth noting that this is a great smelling product, too!

Here’s a recap:

I hope this was helpful! I LOVE finding new products that work well, especially on unmanageable hair! It has taken me a while to find a great routine but it feels good to know what works and what doesn’t on my hair. Taking care of your hair and looking your best means feeling your best. I hope you’re able to give yourself a new product (or 2, or 3….) and take the time for for some self care!
